Building Startup Journal

I took one week to build a neat microbloging tool for founders called Startup Journal. I wanted to create a safe space for building in public, like a X/Twitter spinoff only for startup building updates.

Why another microblogging tool?

Well, it all started with the realisation that X offers too much noise around valuable publications. I wanted a space for startup founders and indie hackers to show and tell about their projects every day. Did you code something today? Share it. Did you gain some distribution insight that might give you an edge? Share it. Did you onboard a new user? You guessed it: share it.

How was it made?

I’ve been coding projects for a while now. For every new project, I use the same stack (a suite of technologies), incrementing and improving it with each passing project. For those in the milieu, it’s a mix of TypeScript, React, Tailwind, Shadcn, and my favorite: Firebase. Using the same stack every time allows me to bootstrap my new project in less than an hour, allowing me to focus solely on core feature development, not tooling.

What’s next?

This is a micro-SaaS. It has no business model, it’s just for show and tell. You can try it if you want, there will not be any paywall or free trial, just a pure microblogging experience. I believe I will use it from time to time just to keep the spark alive.

I’d like to know your opinion on the matter. So if you fancy trying it, drop me a line on X!
